Lunar rocks available on Earth come in two forms: return samples and lunar meteorites.
Return samples were collected at the surface of the Moon during nine different missions : six manned APOLLO missions (380 kg) and three automatic LUNA missions (326 g).
Lunar meteorites are lunar rocks that were ejected from the Moon by impact and ultimately fell on the Earth surface. There are about 90 different lunar meteorites in collection, amounting to about 50 kg of material. These numbers keeps increasing as new lunar meteorites are discovered in deserts.
